Troughton re-emerges as Safestyle marketing chief

Safestyle has named former Everest and Anglian marketing chief Martin Troughton as its Marketing Director in a move seen as a major element of the company’s turnaround.

Troughton, who left Everest in June in what he himself described as ‘bizarre circumstances’ this week announced on social media: “I am proud to join a resurgent Safestyle PLC to help write a new chapter in their success story. Ready to use all my experience to build an even better business for the benefit of new colleagues, partners, customers and this time, shareholders.”

His appointment is the latest step in in that resurgence under turnaround specialist Mike Gallacher read story and comes soon after the company’s courtroom battle which concluded in a non-compete agreement with Mitu Misra, the man behind aggressive new rival Safeglaze read story, and soon after saw the newcomer placed into administration.

The appointment is especially significant as, despite Safestyle’s triumph over the newcomer, industry observers say it was still left with a lead generation structure that was heavily dependant on outdated direct marketing techniques. The fact that Safestyle is currently planning a new TV ad campaign may be seen as another sign of the company’s will to move forward under its new marketing chief.

Gallacher said of the appointment: “We are all delighted that Martin has agreed to join the business at such a pivotal time. Our brand has a distinct heritage and we will aim to bring this back to life, through our communications and increasingly through our consumer experience.”

Troughton added: “I have admired the success of Safestyle from an industry perspective for several years and very much look forward to steering the brand to even greater success in the years ahead.”
