21st May 2020

Profine, owner of the Kömmerling PVC-U systems, has acquired the former Synseal Group extrusion system assets, including the Huthwaite extrusion and laminating site, from the administrators for Aperture Trading for an undisclosed sum.

The move will not only see all the remainder of the Synseal buyout vehicle now disposed of but also gives the German-based extruder a major manufacturing presence in the UK for its Kömmerling products as well as now signalling its intentions to export some of the newly-acquired brands elsewhere around the 100 countries which profine supplies.

The Aperture Group was known for its former Synseal Group brands including Legend, Synerjy, Evolve, Calibre Doors, Norvik New Build and WarmCore.

Profine had already signalled its intention to bring manufacture into the UK when owner and CEO Dr Peter Mrosik told a press briefing he was looking for a suitable site to buy once Brexit had been completed read story though at the time, the break-up of the UK arm of Masco Corp looked the likeliest option.

The acquired entity will now be known as as profine UK Extrusions Ltd (www.profine-uk.com), boasting more than 20 extrusion lines, a mixing plant and several foiling and injection moulding systems. The expansion of the workforce is planned to include over 100 people.

The new owner added that the brands and products from the Aperture business will also be considered for other export markets, given the fact that the profine Group supplies products to more than 100 countries, with over 3,500 employees operating from offices around the world.

Aperture had lasted almost exactly a year after being created as a buyout vehicle following the collapse of Synseal read story which was later revealed to have trading debt nearing £16million.

Earlier this month, administrators KPMG announced the sale of the Global, Celsius and Stratus roof systems to Ultraframe read story shortly after revealing that hope of selling Aperture as a single entity had faded and it was to be broken up for piecemeal sale read story. A £19million-sales glass business, Global Glass had already been sold while Aperture was still trading at the end of last year read story.
