Clayton Glass acquires Global Glass
5th November 2019

Clayton Glass, the £19million-sales glass processor, has acquired Global Glass from Synseal rescue vehicle the Aperture Group for an undisclosed sum in a deal that offers Aperture customers continuity through a long-term supply agreement.

The acquisition, which will add nearly 50% to Clayton’s processing capacity also leaves Global MD Derren Gittins and his team in place along with the pledge of no change to day-to-day operations, while giving the northern-based buyer improved all UK coverage.

Global Glass is said to be the largest UK-owned IGU manufacturer, with a 50,000-plus units a week capacity from six IGU lines, a high-speed triple glazed unit line and four toughening plants in Huthwaite, Wigan and Blackburn.

Aperture CEO Matthew Mycock said the move will realise untapped potential in Global as well as helping Aperture to ‘acknowledge where its core is and honestly appraise current performance and where the opportunities for improvement lie’.

He continued: “We genuinely believe that Global Glass will thrive under Clayton Glass’ expert ownership, while Aperture’s strengths lie in PVC-U systems, WarmCore, Calibre Doors, PVC-U fabrication of windows and patio doors through Norvik New Build, and Roofs including Global, K2 systems, Celsius Solid Roofs, Stratus Lantern roof and SkySpace.”
