Everseal proves perfect chocie for prestigious project

High performance sealed units from FGI’s Everseal IG range have met the exacting insulation demands of Juggler’s Yard, a dynamic mixed use scheme in a fast developing area to the north of Liverpool city centre. Superb sound and thermal insulation were top priorities for the new seven storey building by the Iliad Group, which combines 57 apartments on the upper floors with commercial and retail space at ground level.

The project’s aluminium fabricator, Elfab Aluminium Ltd of Southport, considered numerous insulating glass manufacturers before selecting Everseal. Elfab’s Lee Ellis says FGI’s commercial IG units have proved to be the perfect choice for this prestigious project. He comments: “Everseal’s Thermo Plastic Spacer warm edge technology delivers superior heat insulation and so enhances the energy efficiency of the aluminium curtain walling and thermally broken window system we’ve used for this project.” Thermo Plastic Spacer (TPS) delivers a warm edge zone with a uniform temperature over the entire surface, while the flexible edge seal tolerates thermal stresses and wind loads – a crucial factor in commercial and structural glazing, particularly high rise buildings like Juggler’s Yard.

The IG units manufactured for Juggler’s Yard are a combination of 10mm toughened glass, 12mm spacer TPS and 6.4mm Low E laminated glass. The high specification units are argon gas filled, which combined with Low E glass further improves thermal efficiency and acoustic insulation compared with standard sealed units.

In addition to satisfying the performance and aesthetic requirements of Juggler’s Yard, FGI was able to supply stepped silicone Everseal units to accommodate the building’s complex corner angles. Also, by utilising Hiabs
to deliver the large IG units on stillages, FGI avoided the need for time-consuming labour intensive loose deliveries and enabled faster offloading and easier handling on site.
