Foam tapes from Iso-Chemie have been specified for improved all round sealing at Villa Aalto, a new private house in Hampshire designed by architect Carl Leroy Smith.
Iso-Chemie Bloco 600 tapes were used to provide a sealing solution with weather protection to over 600pascals, equivalent to force 11 driving rain. The tape was installed as a part of the styling of the Velfac 200 aluminium and wood composite windows.
The villa is built on the site of a former bungalow and features a glass reinforced plastic flat roof and a combination of white silicon-based render, cedar wood clad elevations and an Iroko wood framed veranda.
Self-adhesive Iso Bloco 600 tape can be used to seal joints ranging in width from 1mm to 42mm; it can accommodate a temperature range of -30° to +90° and is impermeable to driving rain with a minimum of 600 Pa.
Portsmouth-based Westcott Construction Ltd, an approved installer of Velfac Windows, carried the installation work. Director Jeremy Westcott said: “This is one of the most interesting yet demanding window installation projects we have completed.
“The tape has had to blend in seamlessly with the building while providing long-term, high performance sealing in the harsh coastal environment.
