U-values improvedSolidor has lowered the U-values on its composite doors, giving them anticipated better ratings within the new Door Energy Rating scheme (DERs). The core material has been developed in conjunction with its existing door slab partner and is still supplied from fully sustainable sources, in line with the company’s Green Promise. The door slab can now boast typical U-values between 1.1 and 1.4 W/m²K, and these calculations have been carried out by Chiltern Dynamics and incorporated into Solidor’s U-value calculator by the BRE. The company already incorporates Werbar recycled reinforcing, Planibel A low emissivity glass, Swisspacer warm edge bar and the option of Kömmerling C70 or O70 Gold five-chambered systems into its composite doors. They also boast a range of 13 internal and external colours. The Solidor slab is also fully recyclable at the end of its useful life and there’s no foam filling within the product either. Timber, as the company promotes, can make a significant contribution to sustainable construction, as it’s naturally renewable and it often has a lower environmental impact than other materials. Gareth Mobley, managing director of Solidor said: “It’s important for us to continue our process of product development, while supporting our Green Promise. Our new and more energy efficient door will provide further selling features for our customers and we’re hoping to offer enhanced energy rated doors as standard and at the same existing price.”
