Ripple effect

It is too often the case that the demise of any company is only the beginning of a ripple effect that can bring down many others along its supply chain. It is inevitable therefore that when the deceased is the size of Carillion, those ripples are more on the scale of a tsunami. Of course, the fenestration industry may not be as badly hit as some and it is far too early to make any firm predictions but it is reasonable to assume that its effects will be felt for some time to come. We also hear this week that construction figures are down again for the sixth consecutive period but, then again, the size of the Carillion disaster may be about to disrupt even national statistics to render them meaningless for anyone looking to gauge long-term trends. Read Story
