Today, we see further proof of the rise of the trade counter with the news of what amounts to the formation overnight of a new national chain of 26 units. But, of course, the little swap of 11 Polyframe shops for one Stevenswood factory also highlights another growing trend, of fabricators moving further away from single-sourcing of PVC-U system, as Polyframe now offers three, if you allow for two from the same Veka stable.

Polyframe Group Ltd and Stevenswood Ltd today announced a deal that will see Polyframe hand over its 11 trade centres to Stevenswood and in return acquire the Scottish fabricator’s 55,000sqft factory. The two companies declined to say whether any cash is involved in the transaction.
