Banking on the USA
Better news for Ultraframe this week, with indications that the US based retail business is beginning to bear fruit (no wonder K2 has followed suit, which we also cover below). However, the US has been a rocky road - with a court appeal on the cards and a terrible dollar rate to contend with. And there still remains the thorny problem of UK profitability: while Ultraframe's overall sales were only down 15%, profitability was down a whopping 87%, although the firm stuck by its proposed dividend.

The outlook for Ultraframe shareholders may be bleaker in 2005 as the company returns to its stated policy to pay a full year dividend that is around twice covered by earnings before goodwill amortisation and exceptional items. To cap it all, the hugely expensive court case with the Burnden Group/K2 is now in full flow and haemhorraging money at a frightening rate.

Finally, apologies for featuring a Project of the Week which is over 150 years old, but the pictures of The Crystal Palace - only recently in the public domain - are surely worth making an exception for. See here or below.
