New range fired up
Float Glass Industries (FGI) has extended its range of processed glass products to include fire-rated units using Pilkington’s fire resistant glasses.
Double glazed units can be supplied in a choice of fire performance variations to suit different insulation and integrity ratings and satisfy the latest fire safety standards.
The performance of FGI double glazed fire units varies with the specification of glass for both panes and the overall composition of the unit. Options include Pilkington Pyrostop – a clear, multi-laminated fire resistant glass which retains its integrity and fully insulates against heat transfer from a fire. FGI supplies a range of fire units incorporating Pilkington Pyrostop, available in thicknesses from 27mm to 62mm depending on the level of protection required. The units can offer up to 120 minutes integrity and insulation in suitable glazing systems.
FGI fire units can also be manufactured using clear, multi laminated Pilkington Pyrodur and Pilkington Pyrodur Plus, which are integrity only glasses with low levels of transmitted radiant heat, some insulation performance and impact safety. Pilkington Pyrodur has an integrity rating of up to 60 minutes, and is available in nominal thicknesses of 10mm and 13mm.
For more demanding applications and larger pane sizes, FGI fire units can be specified with Pilkington Pyroshield Safety, which restrict the spread of flames and hot gases and can maintain integrity up to 120 minutes in specialist steel frames, or 60 minutes in timber frames when tested to BS 476 Part 22.
