Anglian pledge to deliver apprenticeships
Anglian Building Products, the contracting division of Anglian Windows has pledged to deliver apprenticeships on all long-term public sector refurbishment projects throughout the UK.
The programme will focus specifically on providing opportunities for trainee site installers working on their partnering framework contracts.
The programme will deliver each apprentice with the skills and knowledge they require to undertake the role but importantly, they will gain vital training from experienced installers. Maximising the time spent within the working environment, many assessments will be undertaken on-site.
Available to those under 25, each apprenticeship will generally last between 18 months and two years. The apprentices will work towards a formal qualification: NVQ Level 2 in Fenestration Installation and Key Skills.
‘We believe that it is vital we provide training opportunities for local people within the communities we are working. We are passionate about helping youngsters get back into education and training, and aim to provide long term employment opportunities for all successful candidates,” training and development director, Craig Lyon, said.
This announcement coincides with Apprenticeship Week 2009, organised by the Learning and Skills Council to grow awareness of the drive for 400,000 apprenticeships starts by 2020.
