Certass Ltd enters training partnership agreement with 4GE Academy
31st July 2012
Certass Ltd, a Government approved Competent Persons Scheme, has partnered up with 4GE Academy to provide funded NVQ/QCF training and apprenticeship places for glazing and solar panel sector qualifications. 4GE Academy specialises in the development and management of apprenticeships and national qualifications across many industry sectors, helping to deliver a commitment to continually improve industry standards all round.
New Government initiatives involving Green Deal and proposed changes to Competent Person Scheme operator licenses have highlighted the need for glazing sector qualifications to be higher on this industry’s agenda. Both these initiatives will require installing companies to evidence the competence of its workforce.
This can be achieved by either:
Recognised qualifications i.e. Level 2 NVQ/QCF Fenestration Installation qualification
MTC (Minimum Technical Competence assessment)
Jason Clemmit, Certass Certification Managing Director said, ‘I have been working closely over the last few months with qualification authorities and Government to ensure that the proposed MTC is a common sense assessment that does not place a burden on industry and allows us to evidence the quality of the people working in our sector.
Our intention is to deliver the NVQ/QCF qualification whilst up-skilling individuals in line with industry and legislation changes and requirements. We have in partnership with 4GE Academy, developed a bespoke delivery and assessment system which has been designed to capture what installers do daily whilst introducing them to the under pinning knowledge of the qualification.
I am delighted to be working with such a forward thinking partner as 4GE Academy to deliver the NVQ/QCF qualifications and apprenticeship frameworks to both our members and the industry. We aim to deliver specific training and assessment practices, whilst delivering quality provision without impacting on the existing businesses activities.’
4GE Academy says ‘We are delighted to be working with Certass developing a bespoke Apprenticeship programme which will help recognise and acknowledge a quality workforce demonstrating high standards in the sector. This apprenticeship programme will ensure the delivery of training to Certass members remains relevant and specific to the industry changes and demands.
With the launch of Green Deal very close, the timing of this relationship is right and ensures the Green Deal Agenda is supported into the future with a young workforce. We anticipate an excellent response from the sector to take this opportunity and the benefits it will undoubtedly bring to business. ‘
