Toughened glass from TUFFX has provided a unique door to an equally unique wine cellar built around an inset spiral staircase in a large country house in Hampshire.

The owners had the feature built into an existing basement accessed by a floor-based door that was made strong enough to walk over, using 31.5mm Toughened Clear glass.

The owners said of the finished installation:

“We love our new cellar, it is something we have been discussing for a long time, with never using the cellar that was built in with our home we finally came around to getting it installed. We host many diner parties so it comes in handy for us. The clear glass gives it the perfect finish and everyone is so impressed who comes to visit.”
