Membership helps win contract

 

“One of the major benefits of belonging to DGCOS is the confidence it inspires in our customers”, said Stephen Allard, managing director of installer AA Plastics.

Stephen was initially attracted to the scheme because of the strict criteria for joining. “DGCOS asked questions, and they insisted on certain standards which must be met – it isn’t just a question of paying a membership fee.”

AA Plastics has already seen the benefit of membership – one customer specifically awarded them a contract only because they are a member of DGCOS. The marketing materials have proved very useful too. “The DVD in particular inspires confidence – Nick Ross is seen as the consumer’s champion, so his endorsement carries weight,” Stephen said. “If our customers feel they are protected then they are happy to do business with us.

“Just before we joined we had a dispute over a conservatory installation. The customer changed his mind about using the materials we had previously agreed on – after the job had been completed! He threatened to withhold payment and we had to discount the job to safeguard our reputation. The help of a trusted, independent third party like DGCOS would have been invaluable, and could have saved us time and money.”
