Home improvement market is bright
Leicester-based Absolute Solar is a reminder that the internet is driving new business in the UK and that the term ‘home improvement’ covers more than just windows and glazing – the company was established earlier this year in response to the growing demand for alternative methods of energy generation.
Working in conjunction with sister company Absolute Insulation, Absolute Solar generates its own leads and buys leads from Quotatis. Dean Bliss, the company’s Director, said that not all internet generated leads are the same. “We originally bought leads from one company, but the provider didn’t understand the industry and were sending inappropriate information.
“We then started using Quotatis, which operates in a different way. They have properly researched the solar market, and when they call the homeowner back they find out exactly what they want, so that we aren’t wasting our time when we call to arrange an appointment.”
Dean explained that Absolute Solar only converted one in eight of the leads it previously received, whereas with Quotatis, that figure has risen to one in four.
Dean said that his business is fuelled by a recent piece of government legislation which obliges energy companies to pay homeowners for the generation of the electricity, even if they use it themselves. Homeowners are also paid for any energy that is exported back to the grid.
“We wouldn’t be in business without these FITS [feed-in tariffs],” explained Dean. “And thanks to Quotatis, we are currently going through the approval stage on two projects which have a combined value of £1million – a PV farm and a commercial building.”
