Fifty Shades of Grey
30th September 2014

Kolorplas has reported increasing demand for its specialist spray painting service as architects exploit PVC-U foiling technologies to deliver an aesthetic match to aluminium.
Offering a dedicated trade spray painting service in any RAL colour, including a full range of component painting, Kolorplas was launched by Emplas in 2012.

The trade fabricator said that it had seen growing demand from fabricators and installers supplying the commercial sector for colour-matched ancillary products, with demand greatest for greys.

Mike Crewdson, Sales and Marketing Director, Emplas, said: “We have seen significant growth in colour and wood grain sales this year across the board, with growing exploitation of foiling technologies by architects and specifiers.
“But we’re seeing growth in the orders for grey and anthracite gray above anything else, as developers and homeowners exploit the aesthetic that it delivers to replicate aluminium at far lower cost.”

To give installers the flexibility to exploit this market to the maximum, the Koloplas ‘in-stock’ range includes all Emplas windows and doors as well as a full spectrum of Profile 22 cill end caps, components, flat and molded panels, composite door leafs, vents, handles, hinges, astragal bars and architraves.

Kolorplas can also offer a match to 15 Profile 22 foiled colour options, including Hazy Grey, Slate Grey and Gale Grey. It also offers Irish Oak, Sienna PN, Sienna PR, Steel Blue, Dark Green, Dark Red, Crème Weiss, Beck Brown, Chartwell Green, Barley Water, Willow Green and Vanilla.

The range features smooth and textured finishes, while all sprayed products come with a 10-year guarantee, with a turnaround in as little as 10-days.

Crewdson concluded: “The importance of colour in the PVC-U second time replacement market can’t be over-estimated. It’s immediately tangible and a critical driver for consumer engagement. Awareness among architects is also there.
“The economy is in recovery but there is still often a gap between the aspirations of the end user and budget. Use of coloured PVC-U to deliver an architectural aesthetic at lower cost, narrows that divide.”
