APP PROVES A GAME CHANGER

‘A game changing product for surveying in the aluminium sector’. That is the view of one of the first customers to download the new LogiKal Smart Measure app from Business Micros Aluminium.

Martin Gillam, Operations Manager at Continental Installations in Huddersfield, has been using LogiKal software for more than 10 years and is a huge supporter of the system but believes it now has an added, new dimension which makes it even more valuable.

For the first time, the Smart Measure app allows LogiKal users to survey contracts out on site using their iPhone or iPad and automatically import the data and photographs from that survey into LogiKal in real time.

It has been developed both to save time out on site and to improve the level of accuracy of the data which is being transmitted.

Continental Installations design, manufacture and install high performance glazing systems using Senior, Smart and Schüco aluminium systems. They produce curtain walling, ground floor systems and windows and doors for the commercial sector.

Martin Gillam says that the company’s commitment to getting things right first time means that they always site measure every job, no matter how small. Previously, they have used the survey drawing print out which is available within LogiKal to record surveys but, on larger jobs in particular with multiple positions, they have sometimes found this confusing. There has also been a risk that the information being relayed back to the office could effectively be lost in translation.

However, the Smart Measure app is already changing all that and Martin says they can now confidently update LogiKal in real time from any site. He says: “The ability to change dimensions and add screens via the app is having a really positive impact on our production. It’s saving time on site but it’s also giving us complete confidence that the information we are using is correct. Even after just a month’s use, I can see an end to the days when a production scheduler had to interpret rain soaked scribble!
