SGG LAUNCHES COOL-LITE XTREME 50/22 II
29th July 2014

The launch of Cool-lite Xtreme 50/22 II by Saint-Gobain Glass features Europe’s highest solar selectivity for a to be toughened triple silver product, say the manufacturers.

SGG Cool-lite Xtreme 50/22 II combines 50% light transmission with a Solar Factor of only 0.22 – i.e. blocking 78% of solar heat – along with a thermal insulation of 1.0W/m2k the product outperforms all double silver coated products available in the market.

Adrian Adams, Market Manager for Saint Gobain Glass Better Working Products said: “SGG Cool-lite Xtreme 50/22 II is aimed at the premium construction market in response to specifiers demand for the very best in light transmission while eliminating the risk of overheating. The combination of high light transmittance and low solar factor – giving a selectivity figure of 2.27 – reduces the need for both heating and air conditioning.

“This not only significantly decreases energy consumption, making any building more environmentally friendly and enhancing its BREEAM status, but the high level of natural light also creates a far more pleasant working environment. The fact that SGG Cool-lite Xtreme 50/22 II is a ‘to be toughened product’ makes it ideal for commercial applications, such as facades or overhead glass, where a toughened glass products are required.

“Also, we believe the fact that an architect may not have to work with any kind of external shading devices could have a substantial impact on the concept and design of a building and subsequent facade.”

SGG Cool-lite Xtreme 50/22 II is the latest in a series of market-leading innovations; its development has been made possible due to the emphasis that is placed by Saint-Gobain on research and development of market leading technologies.
