SETTING STORE IN CONSERVATORY ROOF
29th July 2014

One of the UK’s leading independent luxury department store chains has hit the roof with Aztec Conservatory Roof Systems. Hoopers, founded in 1982 in Torquay and now with stores nationwide in ‘quintessentially English’ towns, has completed a £0.5m refurbishment of its Victorian premises on Torquay seafront, which included replacing a Georgian wired lantern light on top of the four-storey building.

Aztec Conservatory Roof Systems has provided the solution. As a result, the old rooflight has been replaced with a 8m x 12m gable roof, manufactured using Aztec’s system.
“It is probably the highest location for an Aztec roof yet,” says Aztec managing director Tim Franks. “The roof can be seen from miles around, on land and at sea. In line with Hoopers’ luxury image, the roof had to look good- and it does!

“The engineered benefits of our system meant it could be fabricated from standard bar. Even faced with the extremes of weather to which it will be subjected, it resist them, will perform for years to come, and ensure Hoopers’ customers have a light, dry, bright environment in which to shop.”

The Aztec roof system, originally designed and engineered by conservatory fitters to address the common fabrication and installation issues inherent in other roofs, is claimed to reduce on-site build time by up to 30%, and almost eliminate risk of remedial call-backs.
