Setting out tomorrow (Wednesday) on his 192 mile charity walk to raise money for a Manchester hospice and within reach of his £10,000 target Emplas’ Mike Crewdson, is appealing to the industry for one final fundraising push.
Mike hopes to complete the coast to coast walk across the North of England in just eight days to raise £10,000 for St Ann’s Hospice in Manchester, taking on the challenge in the memory of his late wife Rosemary Crewdson.
Setting out on the second anniversary of her death in just a few weeks time on the 21st of May, Mike is now tantalizingly close to his target and is now appealing to colleagues in the industry for one final push of support to take him to his target.
Mike said: “The industry, as always, has been incredibly generous and supportive and we have raised in excess of £8,000 already. With just a few days to go we’re looking for just that little bit more to bring us to our target and hopefully a little bit above it.
“This will cover one day’s running costs in the hospice in full and will support St Ann’s in delivering the same exceptional care as that received by Rosemary, to others.”
Following in the footsteps of the great fell walker Alfred Wainwright, whose guides made the route famous, Mike will leave St Bees on the Irish Sea, passing through the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks to arrive at and Robin Hood’s Bay on the North Sea on the 29th.
