Press Glass SA of Poland has given further details of the acquisition of two Pilkington factories, their order books and its Cervoglass brand by its UK-based Glass Systems subsidiary, as announced last week Read Story.
Both factories were producing for the residential market, says the company, and the move will now give the Glass Systems Group an estimated 20% of that market in the UK, says the company. The two factories’ output will double GSG’s current production to 80,000 IGUs a week.
The parent company says the acquisition was made formally via Glass Systems North Ltd, which was created specifically for that purpose. The Cumbernauld factory will operate as Glass Systems Scotland and the factory in Barnsley as Glass Systems AG. Glass Systems North also acquired Cervoglass offering conservatory glass.
The two sites are added to GSG’s existing four factories, in Swansea, Port Talbot, Cardiff and Peterborough.
The group says in a statement that the acquisition now enables Glass Systems Group to supply a full spectrum of sealed units nationwide. It adds that Press Glass SA will to continue to offer a range of products for the commercial market under its original brand Press Glass.
