Glass up 13%

DOUBLE R GLASS & ROOFING SYSTEMS reports glass sales are up 13% in 2019 compared with the previous year, while overall sales across glass and conservatory roofs have increased by £500,000 – just over 10% – in the same period.

“The glass sector is in a constant state of flux at the moment, with the supplier landscape seemingly changing by the week,” said managing director Ian Sims.

“As a result, an increasing number of fabricators and installers are prioritising security and a stable supply chain when looking for an IGU partner.

He continued: “We probably had more than our fair share of problems last year, but we worked hard to rectify them quickly and keep our customers informed and as a result didn’t lose any business through the number of challenges we faced.

“As well as standing by our customer focused principles, we have also continued to invest in the business to ensure we have the machinery and people to stay ahead of the increased demand we’ve seen for our sealed units, decorative glass and our conservatory roofs. We have recently employed a further eight people – seven joining our production team and another engineer – for just this purpose.
