Capstone Doors new 68mm Composite Door blank selling well
28th February 2012

Capstone’s new 68mm composite door blank has been very well received by customers and has had strong sales since its launch in May 2011. It’s been specially designed to incorporate the benefits and features of PVC panel doors coupled with the market-leading advantages of GRP composite doors.

The customer perception of the PVC version of the Twin Seal door is that it’s better because it’s thicker and has multiple locking points including roller cams and shoot bolts to make it more secure, while the important fact that it has a 24mm or 28mm PVC infill panel secured with plastic beads is often overlooked.

For Capstone customers, the main benefit of the new 68mm door is the kudos and selling features associated with a Twin Rebated front door with the added advantage of being extra secure - without the need for a less secure beaded infill panel. The 68mm door is available in the same styles as the 44mm Capstone composite door - it’s just thicker!

Customers can use the 68mm door with any profile. It can be sized and rebated to suit each individual profile using a CNC machine to create the required rebate depths. There’s no need to swap to special or expensive profile systems.

Both the Width and Height of the new 68mm door are fully trimmable, and it also allows a rebate of around 48mm x 21mm to be machined into its composite edge giving the door its rebated edge detail. The edges of the doors can be painted or capped using Aluminium or PCV edge strips specially designed for the 68mm door.

The 68mm door leaf has a high Thermal efficiency rating for those customers looking to have a door set with a U Value less than 1.0. Tested to Pas 23 and 24 Standards, the new Twin Seal composite door passed the requirements of UK standards with ease when tested at Chiltern Dynamics.
