SAFE Solar
South Wales-based Solar WIndows recently received accreditation from SAFEcontractor, a programme which recognises very high standards of health and safety practice among UK contractors.
Employing 50 people, Solar Windows is principally involved in the local authority and housing association marketplace and its most recent clients have included major players such as Denbighshire County Council and Sutton Housing Partnership.
The company’s application for SAFEcontractor accreditation was driven by the need for an independent endorsement of the uniform high standard which already existed across the business.
Bob Jenkins, business development manager, at Solar Windows said: “Our work in the public sector means we already have to operate to the highest levels of health and safety in order to secure and retain contracts. However, it is still really pleasing to have our policies and expertise recognised and to be able to use the familiar logo in our future sales and marketing activities.”
SAFEcontractor accreditation is expected to enhance Solar’s ability to attract new contractors and its commitment to safety will be viewed positively by its insurers when the company liability policy is renewed.
Under the SAFEcontractor system, businesses undergo a vetting process which examines health and safety procedures and their track record for safe practice.
