hoppeMaintaining Victorian values

Arrone automatic door operators and the Elfa easy-fit shelving system from Hoppe (UK) have been used as part of the extensive £1.7m refurbishment of Stockport’s historic market hall, helping to bring the Victorian grade II listed building up to today’s access standards and trader requirements.

The high performance AR/E-2009 automatic door operators fitted with PIR sensors were supplied by Stockport-based MAC Building Products and installed by one of their approved contractors, which was awarded the contract by the project’s main contractor, Northwich-based Quadriga.

With the market hall’s Victorian heritage to preserve, it was essential that the door operating devices could perform successfully with large double-action doors and high traffic levels, but blend sympathetically with the aesthetics of the building.

Working closely with HOPPE (UK), MAC Building Products was able to offer Arrone AR/E-2009 door operators with polished brass covers and arms to suit the interior styling of the building which dates from 1861. These are heavy duty, low energy swing door operators which can be used on doors weighing up to 230kg, making them perfect for applications such as Stockport market hall.

In addition to the Arrone automatic door operators, MAC Building Supplies also supplied Elfa twin slot shelving for all of the 29 stalls within the market hall. By selecting the Elfa top track easy-hang system, installers were able to fit the shelving which is used for displaying merchandise on the market stalls.

The Elfa Hang System requires fixings only in a single top track. Once this is in place, hang standards are simply hooked onto the top track ready for twin slot brackets to be inserted where a shelf is required. The main benefit for market stall holders is that they can reconfigure the shelves as the system is fixed only in one place.
