Carbon Calculator launched
The Carbon Calculator has been developed by the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF) and will be launched at this year’s Grand Designs Live.
It is a simple, online tool that allows manufacturers and installers to demonstrate to their customers how much they can save on their energy bills and by how much they can reduce their carbon footprint through the installation of Energy Efficient Windows (EEWs). Grand Designs Live is currently on at ExCeL London until May 4, and the Carbon Calculator will be demonstrated on the GGF stand: B480, Grand Build.
The Carbon Calculator also allows a company’s sales team to actually show homeowners what the comparative fuel and carbon saving advantages will be by installing the highest rated EEWs (rated A) over other levels (rated B to E). It provides authoritative and independent figures and is free to use. It is available on the, relaunched GGF website: www.ggf.org.uk
The Carbon Calculator is a sales tool that has been made available to the whole industry – not just members of the trade association. Commented Nigel Rees, GGF CEO: “The GGF has invested a great deal of money, not to mention time and effort, developing this easy to use, online sales tool. The technical team has worked with government departments and the Energy Saving Trust to produce an accurate and simple calculator.
“In these challenging economic times we felt it was imperative to offer the Carbon Calculator to as wide an audience as possible to maximise the positive benefits it will have on sales of EEWs. As a result it is the main element of the revamped GGF website.”
Homeowners will be encouraged to use the Calculator themselves as the first steps in their search for a window installer and the type of windows they require.
The Carbon Calculator data has been verified by the Energy Saving Trust.
