Mike Wood steps down
It was announced recently that after eight years of work, Pilkington’s Mike Wood had stepped down as chairman of the Fire Resistant Glazing Group (FRGG) of the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF).
During his tenure Mike has pioneered a number of firsts including the publication of the Best Practice Guide to Fire Resisting Glazing and its subsequent reference in the Building Regulations – of which more than 5,000 copies have been distributed. He has also been the main driving force in the group producing an NVQ on this complex subject which is nearing completion.
Mike will continue to serve the management group alongside Giles Willson (GGF), Chris Miles (Warrington Bodycote), Martin Brown (Schott Glass) and Andy Lake (Vetrotech Saint Gobain).
Kevin Hulin of the Mann McGowan Group will take over as chairman.
“Mike’s enthusiasm has empowered the group to be proactive and develop all these different tools which enable, architects, specifiers and the industry to be more aware of what should be specified and how it should be installed to ensure the correct level of fire performance is achieved,” Kevin said. “It will be a challenge to take Mike’s legacy forward, but I am sure with the enthusiasm of the companies and individuals involved we can achieve even more.”
