Chiltern International Fire and sister company BM TRADA Certification continue to include a full-scale fire door test in their popular ‘Timber Fire Doors Explained’ training days to delegate acclaim. In the past two years alone, some 250 delegates have attended the courses and often recommend them to others.

Colin Whitehead, operations manager with Youngs Doors in Norwich, said: “To have the function of fire doors explained, and to witness a full-scale fire performance test, by a UKAS-accredited independent body, are vital elements to enable the specifier, the manufacturer and the installer to understand the benefits of selecting and correctly using fire doors. The dangers and risks of non–compliance speak volumes.”

This view is endorsed by Keith Moore, product quality and compliance manager of Carillion: “Speakers were knowledgeable and the course covered a wealth of detail at a level easily understood. It was particularly valuable to see the live fire test, which put theory into practice.”

Dates for 2009 are: June 18, September 24 and November 26. Aimed at fire door manufacturers, installers, property managers, specifiers and approved inspectors, the courses take place at Chiltern Fire’s test laboratory near High Wycombe. The cost is £275 + VAT (Trada members) and £310 + VAT (non-members). Email training@chilternfire.co.uk. For further information visit www.chilternfire.co.uk
