Hinge choice

Vista Panels has chosen the new Mila iDeal butt hinge for its range of composite doors.

The Wirral based composite door specialist has switched to the new Mila hinge from a competitor’s product because it offers a better combination of quality, aesthetics and value for the company’s customers in the trade and social housing sectors.

The slimline hinge, which was launched earlier this year, is manufactured from high performance zinc and aluminium alloy with a 6mm steel hinge pin to maximise strength. Performance tested to 50,000 cycles and weather tested to 480 hours salt spray, it meets the requirements of Secured by Design and PAS 23/24.

The iDeal hinge offers three way adjustment – lateral (+/-2mm), vertical (+4mm) and compression (+2mm) – ensuring that it is quick and easy to fabricate and to install.

Pip Anger, the production manager at Vista Panels, said: “The new Mila hinge does not require any routing which saves us time in manufacture and helps to make us even more efficient.

“From an installer’s perspective, on-site adjustment can be achieved using an allen key without needing to dismount the door leaf, and the cover caps can be removed and refitted easily which also saves time.”

Mila is supplying around 85% of the iDeal butt hinges to Vista Panels in white, predominantly for the social housing sector, but Vista is also offering trade customers polished chrome or polished gold options.
