Strike ballot at Epwin

Window factory workers at Epwin Group companies in south Devon are to be balloted over carrying out possible strike action over pay.

The BBC reported yesterday (September 26) that about 200 staff at sites in Paignton and Newton Abbot are to be balloted after not having a pay rise for three years, according to the Unite union.

Unite claimed the company was using the recession as an excuse not to pay its workers properly.

In a statement, Epwin said: “We would like to assure our customers that any possible action by union members at our South West operations will not impact on our commitment to high levels of service and product quality. It would, however, be inappropriate at this time to speculate on what action, if any, will be taken by the union.”
