Green Deal backing

Rehau has given its backing to the GGF and Fensa in their warnings to members not to jump the gun on the Green Deal.

The leading systems house has produced a Guide to the Green Deal for its customers which tells them all they need to know at this stage and saves them from wasting time and effort on the scheme before all the details are made available in 2012.

The four-page document is subtitled ‘What is the government’s new green deal and what does it mean to you?’ and it sets out all the relevant information for fabricators and installers in a readable and easily digestible format.

Chris Tudgay, the business team leader at Rehau who wrote the guide, said: “Like the GGF and Fensa, we have been concerned about the level of misinformation which has already been created about the Green Deal at a time when the second white paper is still potentially six months away.

“The industry is still lobbying for PVC-U windows even to be included and there are absolutely no guarantees about what it will deliver for this industry.

“However, the publicity around the scheme has prompted many of our customers to ask us for advice so we have put together this guide which presents all the facts as they are known today.

“It clearly explains the proposed remit and limitations of the Green Deal, as well as the different roles which will be played by providers, advisors and installers. It cuts through some of the myths which are currently circulating and sets realistic expectations for the industry.

“Of course, Rehau is also continuing to work behind the scenes to maximise the opportunities which it will present for our customers and we will still be providing regular updates as the scheme comes closer to launch.”
