VEKA takes to the road for The Encephalitis Society

Staff from The Veka UK Group will be taking to two wheels in June to raise funds for the company's nominated charity, The Encephalitis Society.

The cyclists will cover 100 miles of Wiltshire countryside over two days, passing landmarks such as the Avebury Stone Circle, Stonehenge and the Wiltshire White Horses.
Veka chose to support The Encephalitis Society after Mark Barsby, Head of Technical was diagnosed with an autoimmune form of Limbic Encephalitis last year. He, along with Head of Commercial Sales Richard Garland and Head of Product Management Steve Bakewell, planned the challenge as part of the company's year-long fundraising programme for the charity.

Mark explained: “I wanted to do my bit and put something back for the help The Encephalitis Society had given me. Steve gave us some ideas as he had already taken part in similar events to raise money for charity. I decided to make some changes to my diet and exercise more when I came out of hospital. As part of my goal, however, I've promised myself an ice cold beer and a hot sausage roll on completion of the second day as they're probably the two things I've missed the most!”
