GLOBAL’S SINGLE RAFTER FIXING BOLT
26th June 2012

Synseal’s Global conservatory roof features a single 8mm bolt and 13mm nut system for the all-important rafter fixing detail, which is both practical and simple to fit.

The security locking bolt eradicates movement between the bolt and rafter, with no drilling of the roof rafter required as the fixing bolt locates into a special purpose-designed channel. This design leaves rafter drainage channels unhindered to work effectively and eliminates leakage points. When the fixing bolt is tightened with an allen-key, the cutting head of the bolt bites up into the channel to firmly lock the assembly into place. This results in a connection which is strong, reliable and secure.

The single fixing bolt is positioned through pre-drilled holes in both the rafter bottom cladding and eaves beam and is then fastened with the nut internally, to save valuable installation time and eliminate any need for awkward rafter positioning and fastening of multiple bolts, which is a requirement of alternative roof system designs that require fixing from above the roof line.

Finally, a choice of either sculptured or chamfered internal claddings are snap-fitted onto the eaves beam to conceal the rafter fixings and seamlessly match the conservatory window walling and internal roof cappings.

Mark Schlotel, Synseal’s Head of Marketing, explains: “Global is the UK’s best-selling conservatory roof system because the roof is designed and engineered with features to ensure that fabrication is straightforward and installation is quick and easy. The single bolt rafter fixing, fitted from below the roof line, will be key to the product’s on-going success in the UK market today.”
