PART M COMPLIANT THRESHOLDS
26th June 2012

Synseal has introduced a range of “open in” or “open out” low thresholds for residential and French doors that need to comply with Part M of the Building Regulations.

Approved Document M ensures that everyone has equal access to buildings, with a particular focus on disabled people. As stated in the document Section 2.7e: “Accessible entrances will satisfy Requirement M1 or M2 if the threshold is level or, if a raised threshold is unavoidable, it has a total height of 15mm, a minimum number of upstands and slopes, with any upstands higher than 5mm chamfered and rounded.”

Synseal has designed a series of dedicated low threshold kits to complement its Shield, SynerJy, and Legend 70 PVC-U profiles.

With a choice of “open in” or “open out” options, the thermally-broken aluminium low threshold profiles come in a kit which is suitable for two residential doors or one French door. Each kit includes one 2m long aluminium threshold (including pre-inserted gasket), one 2m long aluminium weatherbar (seal carrier including pre-inserted gasket), two sets of door jamb injection mouldings, two sets of weatherbar end caps and four foam sealing inserts (applicable to “open in” kits).

The robust low thresholds are straight cut, so no additional routing or end milling is required on site. The aluminium threshold is thermally broken for greater thermal efficiency and is available in either Silver or Gold finish.

“Synseal is a growing force in the commercial sector,” Synseal’s Chief Executive David Leng said. “Low thresholds, specifically designed to accompany our market-leading PVC-U profiles are another of our commercial sector product developments that help to open the door to this market for our fabricators.”
