Synseal Extrusions’ ever-enthusiastic New Build Business Development Manager Bruce Manning was caught up in television coverage of the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations in The Mall when he encountered reporter Mark Austin while he was mixing with the crowds.
Bruce was with boys and girls from the 25th Bromley Scout Group of which he is the Leader, having been a keen Scout Leader for more than 20 years. Finding himself and his Scouts walking alongside a bemused Mark Austin, who was giving a running commentary live on ITV News, Bruce pounced and placed a traditional Scout scarf round the reporter’s neck which he continued to carry whilst he walked. The tradition started at the Royal Wedding last year when Mark was first mobbed!
Bruce told the reporter and millions of viewers how much he and his charges were enjoying themselves following which Mark interviewed some of the Scouts who declared it to be the best day of their lives.
“The whole day was a fantastic experience,” said Bruce afterwards, “ everyone really enjoyed it and especially to be on television. It wasn’t exactly 15 minutes of fame but it was enough for me,” the Synseal man joked.
