GGF Deputy Chief Executive and Director of Technical Affairs, Giles Willson has been appointed Chairman of the British Fenestration Ratings Council (BFRC).
In 2005, the GGF Group acquired The British Fenestration Rating Council (BFRC) which is responsible for Window and Door Energy Ratings in the UK. BFRC rates the energy efficiency of windows and doors using the familiar ‘A’ to ‘G’ rainbow label, similar to those for electrical appliances. It allows homeowners to assess the energy efficiency of a product and compare competing product.
GGF Group Chief Executive, Nigel Rees commented, “The fundamental finding of our recent strategy review was that the GGF and its subsidiaries should exist for the benefit of GGF Members. Giles appointment will cement the strong working relationship between the GGF and BFRC and will continue to bring Window Energy Ratings to companies the UK replacement window industry. ”
Giles has been on the BFRC board since 2005 and has provided technical support for the company over the last seven years. Taking over the position from the previous Chairman Robert Aitken, Giles is positive about his new role and the future of BFRC. “I am delighted to accept this position at an important time in BFRC’s development. BFRC has come a long way since the GGF takeover and the company will ensure the existing BFRC window and door energy rating schemes will meet the requirements of the industry for the next 5 years. This will include adjusting to the changes to UK Building Regulation, CE Marking and European Energy Rating Schemes."
