Weekly Email News for the Glass, Glazing & Fenestration Industries

Double nomination
25th September 2018

REHAU has been named as a finalist for two categories in this year’s G-Awards.

The company entered its Total70 co-extruded profile into the New Product of the Year category, and its fenestration designed for Coventry University’s Cycle Works student accommodation block was entered into the Commercial Project of the Year category.

Total70 co-extruded profile uses recycled material from first generation PVC windows to create new, energy efficient window frames. The core of the Total70 co-extruded window profile is made up entirely of post-consumer waste, with only the outer skin made of new polymer.

As the demands now imposed on glass, glazing and hardware companies in the commercial sector continue to rise, architects and construction companies across the country are seeking out innovative thinking and are continually testing the standards of design, comfort and security. The Commercial Project of the Year category seeks to identify those projects that have gone above and beyond in achieving just this.

On a recent project for the Coventry University student accommodation Rehau and installation company Campbell Mason worked on an alternative to alumiunium using PVCu profiles with a fiberglass centre and aluminium casings.
Stephen Beresford, Head of Marketing and Communications at Rehau, said: “It’s certainly a competitive field for both categories so we are very pleased the judging panel recognised the innovative approach taken by Rehau both when it comes to providing solutions for projects and in our new product development.”
