QUALITY IS ASSURED AS QUICKSLIDE’S VETERAN QA MAN CONTINUES
25th September 2012

A spell at British Coal formed vertical sliding sash manufacturer Quickslide’s Quality Assurance Manager Don Warren’s early attitudes to quality management; it was a company in which the fall out from poor quality standards could have serious implications. Says Don: “The standards imposed at British Coal were absolute as there were lives at risk,” explained Don. “So attention to detail is something that became an obsession with me and it has never left.”

Don was explaining why he has accepted Quickslide’s request for him to continue past his 65th birthday in his role as the company’s quality supremo, extending still further his 35 years in quality control. “You die when you put your feet up,” he says. “I’m in at 6am every morning to make sure that everything is in place for the day, to check and make sure I haven’t missed anything. And I love the camaraderie that exists at Quickslide; they are mostly young people and it keeps me young. And besides, it would fall apart without me!” Don joked.

“Don has been running quality assurance on windows and doors since 1991 when he joined Scholes Windows, once one of the best known brands in the industry,” explained Adrian Barraclough, Quickslide’s Chairman.
