£8 MILLION RESIDENTIAL CONTRACT
25th September 2012

M Price Ltd, are currently at work on a 27-storey residential tower-block for Barratt Homes at Maple Quays, part of the massive Canada Water development in South-East London.

M Price, who secured the £8 million unitised contract against strong competition last year, are particularly pleased because the win vindicates the substantial investment in people, premises and facilities that they have made in order to be able to move into large-scale, off-site fabrication.

‘Unitisation is the future,’ says M Price Chief Executive, Colin Chapman. ‘This is the sort of project that, in the past, would have been reserved for bigger European contractors, but we’ve managed to secure it. You need good design, factory space and a strong cash reserve to fund materials in advance and that’s what sets us apart from our competitors.’

The contract calls for the fabrication over 1,000 3m x 2.5m unitised elements which are all being produced in M Price’s newly acquired and fully equipped 20,000 sq ft factory space in Enfield. Work commenced in December 2011 and delivery to site began in June this year. The project is due for completion in March 2013.

Designed by Glenn Howells Architects, this phase of Maple Quays includes not only the landmark central tower, but also four low-rise blocks, bringing the total number on the site to ten. Once completed in March 2013, Maple Quays will provide 668 new homes in a large, mainly residential development offering a sustainable mix of housing, retail outlets and associated community facilities.
