KATRINA GIVES HER ALL FOR CHARITY FUNDRAISING

Katrina Earl, REHAU’s Area Sales Manager, faced two of her biggest ever sporting challenges in one weekend, all in the name of fundraising for a little boy with cancer.

Katrina was inspired by the story of seven year old Alexander Strong from Epworth in Lincolnshire who is suffering from a rare childhood cancer called Neuroblastoma and who has been the focus of a great deal of fundraising by Katrina’s customer Sheffield Window Centre.

Since Alexander’s condition deteriorated recently, his family is urgently trying to raise £90,000 to allow him to access treatment which is not yet available on the NHS.

Katrina did her bit to help by taking part in the Rothervalley triathlon course on Saturday and then following that up on Sunday by defending her national title at the Women’s Crown Green bowling Waterloo Championships in Blackpool.

She said: “The triathlon course of a 200m swim, a 10K bike ride and a 5K run was nothing compared with the challenge of retaining my national women’s bowls title in a very windswept Blackpool. It was definitely worth it though because, as well as raising money directly, I was also able to tell Alexander’s story to so many people in the crowds for both events in the hope that they will go on to donate further.”

Katrina raised £500 in just one weekend with a mix of bucket collecting and raffles and is now appealing to friends and colleagues in the industry to help out too by donating via the website at
