New certification scheme

Warrington Certification, the certification business of Exova Warringtonfire, has rebranded its range of technical schedules and certificates for the enhanced security testing of doors and windows, with the range now known as ‘Certisecure’.

Recognised by Secured by Design, there are a several schemes within Certisecure against which construction products can be tested and certificated. These schemes include testing and certification of domestic doors and windows to the BS6375 series, PAS24 and BS 7950.

Certisecure offers high security resistance for such items as doors, windows, grills, gates, garage door, shutters, safe deposit boxes, security cabinets etc for commercial and industrial properties in six grades from BR1 to BR6. These grades range from the casual burglar trying to gain entry using simple tools, through to the high risk level where the experienced burglar uses high performance level tools to gain entry knowing the rewards will be much greater.

Paul Duggan, business development manager for Exova Warringtonapt, the laboratory which tests products for certification by Warrington Certification, said:
“While manufacturers have improved the security of hardware items such as locks, cylinders and handles, door and window companies are more frequently asked for Secured by Design approval. Secured by Design requires an enhanced level of security testing for the complete doorset or window, combined with third party certification. Since the Certisecure scheme gives manufacturers reassurance of third party certification under the Warrington quality name as well as Secured by Design approval, it’s an attractive proposition.”
