Cornwall Glass subsidiary Mackenzie Glass this week has this week announced the acquisition of the £5million-sales Pilkington Bristol from the NSG Group for an undisclosed sum.
The deal, expected to be completed next month, makes Bristol the third site to be sold by the Group this year, following the purchase of Barnsley and Cumbernauld in March to Press Glass UK subsidiary Glass Systems Group (Read Story). It is also the second acquisition by Cornwall Glass since it bought LW Architectural soon after

The sale is also expected to include Bristol’s 46 employees, following the completion of a statutory consultation period.
Mackenzie Glass director Mark Mitchell said of the acquisition: “This is a very large - and what has been a very successful business - with a turnover in excess of £5m”. But we believe it can do more with future investment and by realising the additional potential of the networks that we can access across the South West”
He added: “We will continue to work very closely with Pilkington going forward as a new Regional Partner. Our continuing association with Pilkington and the creation of a new standalone business in Mackenzie Glass gives us a great opportunity to bring new energy to operations.
Pilkington opened the 37,000 sq ft purpose-built Bristol site in 2003.
Matt Buckley, managing director UK&I Architectural at Pilkington United Kingdom Limited, added: “The proposed sale of our Bristol operation and our new partnership with Mackenzie Glass allows it to continue improving its offer to both existing and new customers across the South West.”
The Mackenzie Glass brand was acquired by Cornwall Glass in 2013. Although it will sit as part of the wider Cornwall Glass Group of businesses, it will stand alone as its own profit and loss centre, operating entirely independently of it.
