Slimline spacer chosen for prestige art deco apartments
24th March 2015

The EDGETECH Super Spacer® Heritage was the choice in 450 slim sash windows for the refurbishment of Ashlar Court, Hammersmith, into luxury apartments.

With prices starting at £750,000, Linden Homes demanded traditional timber windows in keeping with the 1930s Art Deco Grade II listed building that would also deliver better energy efficiency. Using Super Spacer Heritage from Edgetech UK, installer Slenderpane Ltd was able to replicate the aesthetics of the existing single pane windows with new slim double glazed timber sash windows from sister company Herald Joinery.

The development has won high praise and has been commended in The Sunday Times British Home Awards 2014 and What House? Awards 2014.

David Weston, Managing Director of Slenderpane explained: “By combining bespoke joinery with Super Spacer Heritage slim insulated glass units we were able to closely match the original windows.

“Since completing Ashlar Court we have won a second contract with Linden Homes for 80 slim double glazed sash windows for new housing in the regeneration of Battersea Police Station.”

There’s growing demand from architects and developers to improve thermal efficiency of windows in conservation refurbishment. David added: “With Super Spacer Heritage we can offer glass units down to 11mm wide. We have used it since Slenderpane started making slim units in 2010.”
