BUSINESS MICROS COME OUT ON TOP AT FIT SHOW FOOTBALL

While the question was shirts or skins when four football teams from the industry gathered at Telford United’s New Bucks Head stadium for the FIT Show football tournament, in the end public decency won on a day enjoyed by all as everyone chose shirts.

Four teams, two playing with a man short, came together on June 9th - the night before the FIT Show - to entertain the watching public at Telford’s Goalzone centre with six keenly contested and often tasty games. Business Micros, remembering their thrashing at the hands of GQAs Rest of the World team in 2013, were eventually proclaimed the 2014 winners, ending the evening unbeaten after three games with the GQA Master Fitter Assessors hot on their heels in second place.

Stars on the night? Everyone really. But after asking around both Jim Cronie (Business Micros) and Simon Smith (GQA PM Training) were nominated as goalkeepers of the highest quality who wouldn’t be out of place playing for the national team in Brazil.

With GQA, GT Windows, Vita Cellular Foams, Business Micros and Haffner all fielding players, thanks also need to be given to the timekeepers who did exactly that without stepping onto the hallowed 3G turf.

GQA’s Mick Clayton weighed in with a hefty return of six goals from the three games played but was left to rue a world class save from Simon Smith that stopped him getting his hat-trick in the defeat to the GQA Master Fitter Assessors. Carl Taylor (GT Windows) impressed with his energetic displays for the All Stars, led from the back by roaming goalkeeper Will Lavin (FIT Show), but after ending the night with nil points, they’ll be hoping for better next time around.
