OPENING DOORS IN TIME FOR HENLEY ROYAL REGATTA

Opening its doors in time for this year’s Henley Royal Regatta week, July 2 – 6, after an extensive refurbishment, Phyllis Court Grandstand occupies an unrivalled position adjacent to the water’s edge on the finish line of the course.Taking full advantage of the location the two storey grandstand makes extensive use of Reynaers sliding and bi-fold door systems facilitating the ability to open up the area to reveal the full potential of the location and let in the ambience of the regatta.
 
Designed to fit seamlessly with the Georgian-style, period building of Phyllis Court private members club, which was established in 1906, Hives Architects LLP, made extensive use of CW 50 curtain walling for the grandstand to bring natural light in as well as facilitate commanding views over this impressive stretch of the River Thames. Located on the site of the original Henley-on-Thames manor house the current house was built in 1837 and is set within its own elegant grounds, close to the town centre.
 
Overlooking the river edge the refurbished grandstand features an expansive run of CF 77 bi-fold doors which facilitate opening the entire frontage of the grandstand alongside the Buck’s side of the river. Reynaers ES 50 outward opening windows provide natural ventilation, while CP 155 thermally insulated sliding systems deliver access to the balcony, which continues along the side and rear of the building, and is also used at ground floor level.
 
Northolt Glass Architectural carried out the fabrication and installation of the Reynaers systems on the project working to a tight schedule to ensure completion on time before opening day of Henley Royal Regatta.
