Thirty, not out
Kent-based Piper Windows celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, having shared a strong relationship with Veka from the start.
Established in 1980, Piper has developed from humble beginnings with just eight employees to its current size: 150-plus staff, a 75,000ft2 factory and a £multi-million turnover.
Business development manager Barry Manley said: “We are understandably proud of ourselves to be celebrating such an impressive milestone, especially when you look back over our 30-year history and think how much has been achieved in that time. This 'small' family business has grown from eight staff to more than 150, and in 2002 was identified as the fastest growing small to medium-sized enterprise in the Southeast region. By 2004 it was recognised as one of the top 50 companies in the South East.
“I have no doubt that our partnership with Veka has played a significant part in our success; it has enabled us to join Network Veka and the quality of Veka's profile has allowed us to reach our full potential for manufacturing and installation excellence. With most of our work in the commercial sector it's a huge benefit to us to use profile with a brand name that is recognised and respected by specifiers.
“We have been happy to work alongside Veka for three decades because both companies share the same ethos of quality, service and standards. This is why all site-based staff and fitters at Piper are trained to NVQ standard under a scheme established with Veka in 1998. Here at Piper we also share Veka's commitment to environmental issues; we have the ISO 14001 accreditation for Environmental Waste Management and fully support Veka's Recycling initiatives which, in turn, improve our eco-credentials.”
Veka's sales and marketing director Colin Torley said: “We are delighted see Piper Windows celebrate its 30th anniversary and would like to offer our sincere congratulations to the whole team, who have worked incredibly hard to get where they are today.”
