CRL’s Taper-Loc Dry Glaze Railing System was used on the latest W Hotel in Hollywood.
The luxury boutique hotel chain features glass railings extensively throughout, both internally and externally. In the magnificent entrance lobby area, glass railings compliment the modern and minimalist feeling of the building. For the exterior, the frameless balconies achieve a brilliant transparency so hotel guests can enjoy an unobstructed view. The architectural elements of the exterior design are evident to all and a key requirement of the W Hotels concept.
A powder-coated finish was used for the exterior and polished stainless steel with 12mm tempered glass for the interior stair rails, balconies, and sky bridge. Infinity edge pools are a signature element in W hotels, and the W Hollywood utilises CRL’s glass windscreen system around the pool with mechanical glass entry gates for easy access. Over 1,300m of fascia and surface mounted heavy glass base shoe was installed, with CRL top rails and handrails as well. CRL’s project scope also included windscreens around the rooftop party deck, the cabana, and fitness area.
The Taper-Loc System is a new frameless glass balustrade system for fixing toughened or toughened laminated glass from 12mm-25.52mm thick. There is no need for cement, therefore eliminating mess, and the precision measured control gives you high quality installations every time.
The product uses a CRL patented horizontal taper lock design, which allows the system to be adjusted, dismantled and re-set. A specially designed tool mechanically slides the tapers horizontally in the base shoe and compress them together. When compressed they expand in thickness and simply lock in place.
