£1m new machinery

Glass Systems has invested £1m in new machinery.

In preparation to changes to Part L of the Building Regulations, the South Wales based company purchased two new gas pressing lines to help fabricators and installers manufacture C rated windows.

“Gas filling is the cost effective way for fabricators and installers to achieve a C rating and our investment means we can manufacture higher volumes and provide short lead times on gas filled sealed units,” said Alan Atkinson, Glass Systems’ managing director. “The major benefit of these new machines is that they gas fill inside a chamber – unlike the standard method of pumping the gas through a needle or a corner key – preventing any leakage and meaning a windows thermal performance will not diminish over time, which is a great selling point for our customers.”

Glass Systems have also upgraded all three furnaces so they can toughen soft-coat glass, speeding up manufacturing time on soft-coat units. It has also purchased an automatic edge deletion machine and acquired four new vehicles to enhance their delivery service.
