The continued growth of the aluminium sector has led a specialist fabricator to ring the changes on the factory floor. Gloucester based CDW Systems is adding a second shift at its factory and has gone on a recruitment drive to cope with demand.

CDW Systems’ MD Jerry Webb comments: “The economy is picking up and in regional pockets of the UK we are seeing an increasing number of speculative commercial developments happening and aluminium is the material of choice. Domestic demand for aluminium products such as bi-fold and sliding folding doors is also strong.

“We’re also benefitting from an increasing number of high-end residential developments being built – that are specifying aluminium windows and doors. Add in demand from the education sector as schools get refurbished and we’ve had to react by adding in a second shift and employing lots of new staff.”

Jerry also said that sliding doors and bi-folds are no longer niche products in the domestic sector, as homeowners are becoming more aware of the transformative capabilities of these aluminium products.

By proposing to add another shift, the fabricator will increase production hours to 16 a day, potentially bringing lead times down and allowing the fabricator to increase capacity. In total the changes will generate ten new jobs in the region.
CDW Systems have been in business for twenty-one years and manufacture and supply a wide range of windows, doors, shop fronts and curtain walling, using some of the leading aluminium profile systems on the market today, including SAPA, ALUK and Smarts.

The specialist aluminium fabricator brings to market new products yearly; and most recently rolled out its new PassivHaus approved patio door that can accommodate up to 4000kg of glass.

“All this positive activity is great news for us and our customers, and we’ve now increased our production output to help installers take advantage of the current market. We can offer installers the products and support they need to push on and win new business,” Jerry concludes.
