GRAND DESIGNS AT WINDSOR HOUSE
23rd September 2014

Black Millwork’s own range of windows and doors has been used in a stunning new build mansion in Surrey worth £8.5 million. The luxurious and modern interior is framed with an adapted Georgian style envelope that provides an impressive stature and superb thermal efficiency.

Built by house builders, AH Lyons, Windsor House spreads across 10,900 square feet and sits in approximately one acre of grounds in the exclusive Wentworth Estate. Incorporating six bedrooms, six reception rooms, a triple garage and swimming pool, Windsor House took just over one year to build and features the very best materials and build quality, meriting its site manager a National House Building Council (NHBC) Award.

Graham Lyons, owner and director of AH Lyons, commented: “The fenestration of a property plays a major role in the aesthetics, efficiency and security of a home. We build premium quality, desirable houses and as such take great care in sourcing our materials. Black Millwork’s products fit in perfectly with our build ethos because of their high quality craftsmanship and superb energy performance ratings.

“We’ve worked with Black Millwork on a number of our properties and trust the classic and elegant designs of its products to deliver the sophisticated aesthetic we aim for. In particular at Windsor House, the sliding sash windows provide a striking contrast against the stonework features and give the exterior a timeless visual appeal.”

Installed at the property were 36 of Black Millwork’s Hidden Balance Urban Sliding Sash windows and six Springline Sliding Sash windows. In addition to their classic styling, the high performance windows also incorporate a number of modern technologies to offer excellent long-term benefits, including 90 per cent argon fill glazing and upgraded Thermix spacer bar.

Also installed, were a number of composite exterior doors and nine sets of French doors with sidelights, creating flexible access to the garden whilst also flooding the property’s interior with light.

Graham continued: “Because of the size of Windsor House, like many of our properties, a number of the windows were larger than standard sizes, so it was important that our supplier could accommodate our bespoke requirements. Black Millwork is always very helpful and more than capable of delivering high quality fenestration to suit every design and scale we’ve asked of them.”
